　　5月29日，第26届“世界杰出女科学家成就奖”颁奖典礼在联合国教科文组织巴黎总部举办，深圳湾实验室主任颜宁等五位科学家从350位候选人中脱颖而出，获颁2024年度的这一奖项。

　　Academician Yan Ning of the Chinese Academy of Sciences received the 2024 L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Award for the Asia-Pacific region at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on Tuesday.

　　颁奖典礼现场，颜宁身穿一条绿色新中式连衣裙上台领奖。她是奖项创办以来第八位获奖的中国科学家，揭示了众多跨膜蛋白的原子结构，这些跨膜蛋白调控着葡萄糖和多种离子等化学物质的跨膜转运，跨膜转运需要特殊的载体和通道，对于维持细胞的良好功能至关重要，出现任何异常都会导致疾病。

　　Yan, professor at the School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University and founding president of the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation, was recognized for her research in structural biology that has helped explain multiple disorders such as epilepsy and arrhythmia and guided the treatment of pain syndrome.

　　The eighth Chinese scientist to win the award, Yan discovered the atomic structure of multiple membrane proteins that mediate the traffic of ions and sugars across the cell membrane, revealing principles that govern cross-membrane transport.

　　颜宁教授也是女性社会权益的坚定捍卫者，延续着女科学家支持女性投身科学事业的传统。从2015年起，她每年都组织举办女科学家论坛。她也在自己的实验室内外践行这一承诺，逐渐招募更多的女性首席研究员;在她领导的两个科研机构——深圳医学科学院和深圳湾实验室中，管理层均有一半以上是女性。

　　She is also a staunch advocate for gender equality in research and science education. She has organized an annual forum for female scientists since 2015, and she has gradually recruited more female principal investigators in the two research institutions she leads – Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation and Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, where more than half of the managers are women.

　　颜宁在领奖时表示，在过去的17年里，能与优秀的团队成员们共事，是我莫大的荣幸。正因为有他们的支持，我今天才有机会站在这里。

　　In her acceptance speech, Yan said: "This recognition is not just a testament to my own efforts, but also a celebration of the countless individuals who have supported and inspired me along this remarkable journey."

　　She especially thanked her high school chemistry teacher Guan Yi, her PhD adviser Shi Yigong, her team members, and her family.

　　同时她鼓励所有正在观看这场颁奖礼的女孩，“成为女科学家的道路或许充满挑战，但还不足以阻碍你前行的脚步。所以，请勇敢做自己。谢谢各位!”

　　"I have a message for all the girls and everyone watching this: being a female scientist can be challenging, but not to the extent that anyone should be stopped. So, be brave, be yourself!" Yan said at the conclusion of her speech.

　　5月29日上午，深圳医学科学院官方账号发布了颜宁的获奖感言及专访。

　　颜宁觉得自己非常幸运，中学化学老师告诉她，“女孩子善于学习科学，要相信自己”。博士生导师施一公教授告诉她，“颜宁，你要志存高远!一切皆有可能!”

　　有意思的是，颜宁透露，自己是I (Introvert)人(注：在MBTI测试里，I人的意思是一个人相对内向)。

　　“那种所谓的应酬我是发自内心的痛苦，就觉得手足无措，我得特别费力地去打起精神才能是一种很热情的状态，还是宅着比较舒服。”

　　颜宁还在微博分享心得：“一个小观察：获奖人们都穿着让自己舒服的平底鞋或半跟鞋，不委屈自己，要感谢的人委实太多，就不一一列举了。谢谢你们给我勇气、力量、和信心。”

　　据了解，自1998年起，世界杰出女科学家成就奖每年评选5位来自全球不同地区的杰出女科学家，表彰她们通过开创性工作为解决重要科学问题所作的贡献，并为其科研事业提供支持。

　　该奖是当今世界上唯一一个在全球范围内颁给女科学家的奖项。

　　The awards were aimed at recognizing the women's pioneering research in life and environmental sciences, and in particular their major contribution to tackling global public health challenges, including cancer, infectious diseases such as malaria and polio, and chronic illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and epilepsy.
