　　当地时间5月14日，英国国王查尔斯三世加冕后的首张肖像画由现年75岁的查尔斯亲自揭晓。肖像画一经揭晓，网友们瞬间炸锅。

　　Buckingham Palace revealed the first official portrait of King Charles III since his coronation on Tuesday, and it’s proving to be divisive with its lurid red brushstrokes.

　　The striking portrait shows Charles "bathed in red", and wearing the uniform of the Welsh Guards, sword in hand and with an "eco-friendly" Monarch butterfly landing on his shoulder — said to have been suggested by the King himself as a nod to his interest in conservation and the environment.

　　查尔斯三世这幅画像是著名画家乔纳森·杨(Jonathan Yeo)亲自操刀绘制的。这位画家曾为众多名人绘制肖像，包括英国前首相托尼·布莱尔(Tony Blair)、主持人大卫·爱登堡(David Attenborough)、好莱坞女星妮可·基德曼(Nicole Kidman)和2014年诺贝尔和平奖马拉拉·优素福扎伊(Malala Yousafzai)等人。

　　The 8.5 by 6.5-foot painting is by British artist Jonathan Yeo, who is no stranger to high-profile commissions, having painted Tony Blair, David Attenborough, Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, and Malala Yousafzai.

　　乔纳森·杨原本是在2020年接到委托，为当时身为威尔士亲王的查尔斯绘制肖像，庆祝其成为“德雷珀斯公司”(The Drapers' Company)的成员50周年。但由于女王的去世，查尔斯成为了国王，这幅画像也就具有了全新的意义——国王肖像画。

　　Originally, the image was commissioned in 2020 to celebrate the then Prince of Wales's 50 years as a member of The Drapers' Company two years hence. However, following the death of the Queen in 2022 it soon took on an entirely new significance, as it was now represented the King following his accession to the throne.

　　据说，查尔斯和王后卡米拉对于这幅肖像颇为满意。据BBC报道，乔纳森·杨称卡米拉看到画像后称，“你画出了他的精髓。”而国王则“对其浓烈的色彩稍感惊讶，除此之外，他似乎是赞赏地笑了。”

　　The King and Queen are reportedly happy with the portrait — Yeo told the BBC that Camilla said: “Yes you’ve got him,” after seeing the result, while the monarch was “mildly surprised by the strong color, but otherwise he seemed to be smiling approvingly”.

　　网友褒贬不一

　　这幅肖像画揭幕后，其出人意料的画风及大胆的猩红色调在网上引起了热议。

　　The unexpectedly modern painting and it's bold red tone drew mixed reactions online quickly after its unveiling.

　　一些人表达了对画像的喜爱与赞美，认为其极具现代性的风格超越了传统肖像画的套路，威严中稍带戏谑，画中的蝴蝶更是点睛之笔。

　　但更多的人对这幅肖像画的评价十分负面。不少网友认为画像中的查尔斯就像“身处地狱”“沐浴在血海中”，像是“从地狱而来的恶魔”。

　　还有网友表示，理解画家想标新立异，尝试“非传统”的艺术风格，但这张画实在“像一幅恐怖电影海报”。

　　更有网友表示，这幅画像让人想到了英国历史上血腥的帝国主义殖民时期。

　　乔纳森·杨本人对肖像引发的非议似乎已坦然接受。他在接受BBC采访时还开玩笑地回应道：如果这被视为叛国，我真的可以用我的头来偿还，这是肖像画师最恰当的死法——砍掉他的头!

　　Yeo jokes: "If this was seen as treasonous, I could literally pay for it with my head, which would be an appropriate way for a portrait painter to die — to have their head removed!"
