　　6.The city was equipped with a drainage system, for a great many clay pipes were found beneath the narrow streets.
城里甚至还铺设了排水系统，因为在狭窄的街道底下发现了许许多多陶土制作的排水管道。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:be equipped with是典型的被动语态，强调古城配备了什么。For引导原因状语从句，说明排水系统存在的原因。

　　语言点2:was even equipped with和clay pipes were found都是被动语态。请大家注意英文和中文在表达上的差异:英文表达遵循的是“最重要的先说”原则，强调动作的承受者，多用被动语态；而中文则习惯于强调动作的执行者，再在其后补充说明施动对象。

　　7.The temple which the archaeologists explored was used as a place of worship from the fifteenth century B.C. until Roman times.
考古工作者考查的这座庙宇从公元前15世纪直至罗马时代一直都是祭祀祈祷的场所。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:which引导的定语从句修饰temple。Was used是一般过去时的被动语态。As a place of worship作主语temple的补足语。From the fifteenth century B.C.until Roman times为时间状语。

　　语言点2:总结学习一组关于时间的缩写:

　　B.C.=Before Christ 公元前
　　A.C.=Ante Christum 公元前
　　A.D.=Anno Domini 公元
　　A.M.=Ante Meridiem 上午
　　P.M.=Post Meridiem 下午

　　语言点3:sth.be used as a place of sth.指的是“某地被当作一个做某事的地方”，sth.be not used as a place of sth.指的是“某地不被当作做某事的地方”。

　　8.In the most sacred room of temple, clay fragments of fifteen statues were found.
在庙中最神圣的一间殿堂里发现了15尊陶制雕像的碎片。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:in the most sacred room of the temple作地点状语。Were found为一般过去时的被动语态。

　　语言点2:the most sacred room 这个短语中的the most sacreds sacred的最高形式，必须加定冠词the。

　　例句支持:

　　Lhasa is the most sacred place of Tibetan buddhism.
拉萨是藏传佛教中最为神圣的地方。

　　9. Each of these represented a goddess and had, at one time, been painted.
每一尊雕像代表一位女神，而且一度上过色。

　　语言点:句子结构分析:each of these作主语，强调“每一…”。And连接两个并列的谓语represented和had been painted;had been painted是过去完成时的被动语态，表示上色这个动作发生在“过去的过去”。

　　10. The body of one statue was found among remains dating from the fifteenth century B.C.
其中一尊雕像，她的躯体是在公元前15世纪的历史文物中发现的。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:本句中的现在分词短语dating from the fifteenth century B.C.作定语，修饰remains。

　　语言点2:date from（=date back to,trace by）的意思是“起始于”。

　　例句支持:

　　The castle,the very best in Europe,has a long history dating back to the ancient Roman times.古堡为欧洲之最，其历史悠久，可以追溯到古罗马时代。

　　11. It's missing head happened to be among remains of the fifth century B.C.
而她那身首异处的脑袋却碰巧是在公元前5世纪的文物中找到的。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:missing为现在分词形式，相当于形容词，作定语，修饰head。

　　语言点2:happen to do sth的意思是“碰巧做某事”。

　　12. This head must have been found in Classical times and carefully preserved.
她的脑袋一定是在古希腊罗马世代就为人所发现，并受到了精心的保护。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:must have been found是对过去的推测。In classical times作时间状语。And连接两个并列句，说明这个女神的头“被发现”和“被保护”这两个动作。

　　语言点2:preserved为部分省略式,本句补充完整为:This head must have been found in Classical times and was carefully preserved.
