　　新概念英语2课文内容：

　　The tiny village of Frinley is said to possess a 'cursed tree'. Because the tree was mentioned in a newspaper, the number of visitors to Frinley has now increased. The tree was planted near the church fifty years ago, but it is only in recent years that it has gained an evil reputation. It is said that if anyone touches the tree, he will have bad luck; if he picks a leaf, he will die. Many villagers believe that the tree has already claimed a number of victims. The vicar has been asked to have the tree cut down, but so far he has refused. He has pointed out that the tree cut down, but so far he has refused. 　　据说弗林利小村里有一棵“被诅咒了的树n。

　　语言点 ...be said...表示“据说 ” ：He is said to be very good.据说他人非常好。

　　2、Because the tree was mentioned in a newspaper, the number of visitors to Frinley has now increased.

　　就因为报纸上报道过这棵树，所以现在到弗林利参观的人越来越多了。

　　语言点 was mentioned = was reported 被报道

　　3、The tree was planted near the church fifty years ago, but it is only in recent years that it has gained an evil reputation.

　　这棵树是50年前栽在教堂附近的,但只是近几年才得到了 一个坏名声。

　　语言点 强调句结构：It is / was…that / who...

　　例：It was last night that I met my CEO in the street.

　　那是在昨天晚上，我在大街上遇到了我的总裁,，

　　4、It is said that if anyone touches the tree, he will have bad luck; if he picks a leaf, he will die.

　　据说，谁要是触摸了这棵树，就会交上恶运;如果谁摘了一片树叶，就会死去。

　　语言点 it is said据说 真題测试测试语言点：主语+ be is said to do

　　答案：选D

　　分析：It is said that从句可转为sb. / sth. be said to do的形式。由此可排除A、C两项，由 时间状语over the past few years可知要用完成时，所以排除B项。

　　翻译：在过去的几年中，艾滋病对那个地区的男女来说是最大的健康挑战。5、Many villagers believe that the tree has already claimed a number of victims.

　　很多村民相信这棵树已经害了很多人。

　　语言点 victim—词主要是表示因为疾病和意外事件被夺走生命的受害者。在此文中是说因为摘 树叶、在树上刻写名字而遭到了报应的人。 真題测试测试语言点：宾语从句

　　答案：选A

　　分析：这是一个宾语从句，wants后面缺少宾语，所以要填what。Always give the monkey exactly what he wants.是一句读语，意思是：永远给予某人他确实想要的 东西。

　　翻译：当你在找工作回答面试问题时，请记住这条黄金定律：永远给予对方他想要的东西。
