　　1.diet n. 饮食，食物

　　begin one's diet开始节食(常出现在减肥场景中，也可为：get on one's diet。对照：be on a diet)

　　例句：My brother's lost ten pounds since he began his diet.

　　我哥哥自从节食之后已经减了十磅。

　　go (be) on a diet 节食;限制饮食(put limit to one's meals and food)

　　例句：1.I'm going on a diet. I gained a few pounds this summer.

　　我正在限制饮食。今年夏天我重了好几磅。

　　2.When I go on a diet, I only eat light food and that takes off weight very quickly.

　　我节食的时候只吃清淡的食物，这样能很快减轻体重。

　　2.friend n. 朋友，友人;同情者，支持者

　　bosom friend 知心好友(an especially good or close friend)

　　例句：1.Ted is my bosom friend. Under such circumstances I must give him a hand.

　　泰德是我的知心好友，这种情况下我必须要帮他。

　　2.Lucy and Mae are bosom friends. They're always together.

　　露茜和玫是知心朋友。她们总是在一起。

　　3.ignorant adj.1.不知道的2.无知的，愚昧的

　　be ignorant of/about 不知道，不了解(be insensible of, be unaware of, be in the dark)

　　例句：Being ignorant of laws, they settled the matter out of court.

　　出于对法律的无知，我们把这件事私了了。

　　4.little ad. 少许，一点儿 n. 一点，少量

　　little by little 一点儿一点儿;逐步地;慢慢地(参见line by line)

　　例句：1.Little by little，he learned to cook.

　　他一点儿一点儿地学会了做饭。

　　2.Little by little, I'm beginning to understand physics.

　　我开始一点儿一点儿地弄懂了物理。

　　3.I'm getting through this German translation, little by little.

　　我一点儿一点儿地看这德文译本。

　　5.medicine n. 药，药物;医学

　　cough medicine 咳嗽药

　　例句：Where can I get some cough medicine?

　　在什么地方我可以买到咳嗽药?

　　6.put up with 容忍，忍受

　　例句：From now on, I refuse to put up with your silliness.

　　从现在起，我再也不会忍受你的愚蠢了。

　　7.same adj. 同样的，相同的 adv.同样地

　　all the same 仍然，照样，还是(nevertheless, still, however)

　　例句：1.Tony's little brother is extremely naughty, but I like him all the same.

　　托尼的小弟弟淘气极了，但我照样喜欢他。

　　2.All the relatives opposed it, but Frank and Lucy got married all the same.

　　尽管所有亲戚都反对，弗兰克和露茜还是结了婚。

　　8.visit vt. 拜访，访问，参观 n. 拜访，访问，参观

　　go over for a visit 去访问，去参观，去拜访

　　A:I've been thinking about my cousin a lot today.

　　A:我今天一直在想我的表姐。

　　B:Why not go over for a visit?

　　B:为什么不去看看她呢?
