　　First listen and then answer the question.

　　听录音，然后回答以下问题。

　　Had the writer's money been stolen?

　　I entered the hotel manager's office and sat down. I had just lost $50 and I felt very upset. 'I left the money in my room,' I said, 'and it's not there now.' The manager was sympathetic, but he could do nothing. 'Everyone's losing money these days,' he said. He started to complain about this wicked world but was interrupted by a knock at the door. A girl came in and put an envelope on his desk. It contained $50. 'I found this outside this gentleman's room,' she said. 'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!'

　　我走进饭店经理的办公室，坐了下来。我刚刚丢了50英镑，感到非常烦恼。“我把钱放在房间里，”我说，“可现在没有了。”经理深表同情，但却无能为力。“现在大家都在丢钱，”他说。他开始抱怨起这个邪恶的世道来，却被一阵敲门声打断了。一个姑娘走了进来，把一个信封放在了他桌上。它里面装着50英镑。“这是我在这位先生的房门外捡到的，”她说。“是啊，”我对那位经理说，“这世界上还是有诚实可言的!”

　　【知识点讲解】

　　1. enter [动词]送入，进入

　　enter into 进入，参加，建立 enter for 报名参加 enter on 着手做，开始

　　She was singing happily when we entered the room.

　　我们进入房间时她正在开心地唱着歌。

　　2. I had just lost 50 pounds.

　　我刚丢了50英镑。

　　这里lost是动词lose的过去式。lost还可作形容词，表示丢失的，既可以作表语，也可以作定语。

　　My key was lost.

　　我的钥匙不见了。

　　3. sympathetic [形容词]同情的;共鸣的

　　sympathetic的名词形式是sympathy。

　　People were enormously sympathetic when the old man died.

　　这位老人去世时人们深表同情。

　　4. complain [动词]抱怨

　　侧重因对处境不满、待遇不公或自己有痛苦等而向别人诉说、埋怨。

　　complain about /of sth. to sb. 向某人抱怨，发牢骚，诉苦

　　complain+that从句

　　She is always complaining about her working environment to her boyfriend.

　　她老是向她男朋友抱怨自己的工作环境。

　　He complained to the police that the little boy had stolen his wallet.

　　他向警察控告小男孩偷了他的钱包。

　　5. I left the money in my room.

　　我把钱放在房间里。

　　left，原形为leave，把...留在...地方

　　the money，这里的money特指前面的50 pounds，所以加上了定冠词the。

　　it是指the money(不可数n. 所以此处用单数)

　　后文的Everyone's losing money these days. 现在大家都在丢钱。这里的money是泛指，所以没有加定冠词the。

　　6. There is still some honesty in this world.

　　some少许的，一些

　　honesty作为抽象名词，要用单数形式。
