　　新概念一直被视为英语学习的经典教材，为了让同学们能够更加全面完善的学习新概念英语，新东方在线英语组老师将帮助同学们一起总结知识点。

　　Despite the message, the captain of the Elkordecided to try once more. The sea bed was scouredwith powerful nets and there was tremendous excitement on board when a chest was raisedfrom the bottom. Though the crew were at first under the impression that the lost ship hadbeen found, the contents of the chest proved them wrong. What they had in fact found was aship which had been sunk many years before.

　　16. The most valuable find of all was the ship's log book, parts of which it was stillpossible to read.

　　打捞到的东西中最有价值的是船上的航海日志，其中有一部分仍然清晰可读。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:which引导非限制性定语从句，修饰log book。后半句改写为正常语序就是it wasstill possible to read parts of the log book.

　　语言点2:be still possible to read的意思是“仍然可读”。

　　17. From this the captain was able to piece together all the information that had cometo light.

　　据此，船长可以将所有的那些已经搞清的材料拼凑起来。

　　语言点1:句子结构分析:was able to piece together的意思是“(过去)成功地讲这些碎片拼在一起了”。That引导定语从句，修饰information。

　　语言点2:come to light的意思是“重见天日”。

　　18. The Karen had been sailing in a convoy to Russia when she was torpedoed by anenemy submarine.

　　“卡伦”号当年在为其他船只护航驶往俄国的途中突然遭到敌方潜水艇鱼雷的袭击。

　　语言点:句子结构分析:she指代“卡伦”号，这是典型的拟人修辞格。
