　　24. 印度"无门村"享盛名

　　There’s a village in the state of Maharashtra, India, where none of the buildings--homes, educational institutions and even banks--have doors. Cash is stored in unlocked containers, as are valuable pieces of gold jewelry.

　　在印度马哈拉施特拉邦的一个村子里，所有建筑--住宅、教育机构，甚至是银行--都没有门。现金和金首饰等贵重物品都存放在没有上锁的箱子里。

　　ShaniShingnapur is home to about 5,000 residents. The residents do not make any security measures because of their undying faith in the local god of Saturn.

　　ShaniShingnapur 村共有大约 5000 名村民。这些村民没有采用任何安全措施，因为他们对当地的农神有着永恒的信仰。

　　Legend has it that centuries ago, an iron and stone slab was washed up onto the shore of a nearby river during a flood. When herders poked the slab with a stick, it began oozing blood.

　　传说几个世纪以前，一块铁和石铸成的平板在洪水中被冲到了附近的河岸上。当牧人拿棍子戳这块平板时，它开始渗出鲜血。

　　Later that night, the God of Saturn appeared in the dream of a villager and revealed that the slab was his own symbol which was so powerful that the villagers never needed to install doors again, because it would protect them from any kind of danger.

　　To this day, the slab continues to be worshipped at a local shrine. It is claimed that ShaniShingnapur is not only free from theft but also free from all kinds of sinful behavior.

　　The unique custom of the village rose to prominence in India. Now tourism is its primary source of income, with at least 40,000 visitors coming here each day.
