　　1.easier adj. easy的比较级，简单的，不费力的

　　That's easier said than done.说得容易做起来难。此习语可简化为 easier said than done。

　　A:Listen,Joe，you've already taken the exam, just forget about it.

　　A:听着，乔，考试已经过了，你就把它忘了吧。

　　B:That's easier said than done.

　　B:说起来容易做起来难。

　　2.wood n.1.木材，木头，木料 2.(pl.)森林，林地

　　out of the wood (s) 脱离危险;摆脱困难

　　例句：Business is beginning to pick up, but we're not out of the wood yet.

　　生意开始好转了，但我们还没有摆脱困难。

　　out of this world 这个世界都找不着，特别好(对照top-notch第一流的)

　　A:Have you tried Susan's apple pie?

　　A:你吃过苏珊做的苹果派吗?

　　B:I got the last piece. And it was out of this world.

　　B:我吃到了最后一块。味道棒极了。

　　新概念英语第四册惯用语整理Lesson2

　　1.flock n. 羊群，鸟群，畜群，一群人 v.蜂拥，群集，成群而行.聚集

　　flock into 涌进 (swarm into, crowd into)

　　例句：The poor in developing countries flock into the cities because their chances of finding some

　　work appear to be greater than in the villages.

　　因为找到工作的可能性似乎大于留在村子里的，所以发展中国家的穷人大量涌人大城市。

　　2.half 一半(地/的)

　　better than half一多半，多一半

　　例句：Better than half the class was absent.

　　班上大部分的人都没到。

　　3.make v.做，制造;执行;使 n.(生产厂家的)名字，(产品的)牌子

　　make a reservation预订房间(座位等)(book a room, seat, table, etc.)

　　A:You just gave one room to a young lady.

　　A:你刚刚把那个房间给了一个年轻女士。

　　B:The young lady made a reservation last week.

　　B:这位年轻女士上星期就预订了房间。

　　例句：My secretary said that she had made a reservation for me here.

　　我的秘书说她已经在这儿给我订了房间。

　　4.race n.(速度上的)比赛

　　come in first in the race 比赛得第一名

　　Not only did Jill come in first in the race but she also had her best running time of the season.

　　吉尔不仅在比赛中得了第一，而且是她在这个赛季的成绩。

　　5.related adj. 有亲缘关系的

　　related to 与有关(having sth. to do with, connected with)

　　例句：1.The softening of color defusion of form in Monet's paintings are probably related to the way

　　his vision was blurred by the cataracts in his eyes.

　　莫奈绘画中柔和的色彩及轮廓的消解很有可能与他眼睛受白内障影响而视觉模糊有关。

　　2.Some specialists guess that the disease Whose cause is unknown was related to industrialization.

　　有些专家猜测这种不明病因的疾病与工业化有关。

　　6.year n. 年

　　for years 好多年.好长时间(参见for hours)

　　A:I'm new in tovm and I need to find a doctor. Do yDu know anything about Joyce Brown?

　　A:我是新来镇上的，需要找一位医生。你了解乔伊斯·布朗吗?

　　B:I've been going to her for years. I don't see how you can do better.

　　B:我在她那儿看病都好几年了。我不知道你会有什么比这更好的选择。

　　1.dirt n.污物;污垢

　　a speck of dirt 一丝灰尘，一粒污点(a tiny of dirt，stain)

　　例句：There wasn't so much as a speck of dirt anywhere.

　　到处都见不到一丝灰尘(到处都一尘不染)。

　　dirt cheap特别便宜

　　A:You've already furnished your apartment?

　　A:你已经给房间配了家具了，是不是?

　　B:I've found some used furniture that was dirt cheap.

　　B:我发现了一些很便宜的二手家具。

　　2.go out 出去

　　go out of one's way for somebody 不辞劳苦，不怕麻烦为某人做事

　　A:I was touched that our neighbor brought over a dish when we moved in.

　　A:我很感动，我们搬进来的时候，我们邻居拿过来一个盘子。

　　B:Yes. Mrs. Smith really goes out of her way for others.

　　B:是的。史密斯夫人总是不怕麻烦为别人做事。
