　　第一幅图标明了Titanic的起点站New York和终点站Southampton，也标注出了Titanic的航行出发时间。The great ship, Titanic, sailed for New York from Southampton on April 10th, 1912.

　　第二幅图有两个数字，左边穿制服的是Titanic上的船员，右边的绅士和美女是船上的乘客。She was carrying 1,316 passengers and a crew of 891.

　　第三幅图提到了Titanic拥有46000吨位，拥有16个密封舱(16 watertight compartments)，Titanic被当时的人们认为unsinkable，因为它是有史以来最大的轮船(the largest ship that had ever been built)。这一幅图对应课文的句子为Even by modern standards, the 46,000 ton Titanic was a colossal ship. At that time, however, she was not only the largest ship that had ever been built, but was regarded as unsinkable, for she had 16 watertight compartments.

　　第四幅图描绘了一个船长看到了远处的一座冰山：Four days after setting out, while the Titanic was sailing across the icy waters of the North Atlantic, a huge iceberg was suddenly spotted by a lookout.图片右上方的警铃提示我们After the alarm had been given, the great ship turned sharply to avoid a direct collision.

　　第五幅图一分为二，左下角说明船长听到警铃，立刻转舵，右上角说明Titanic还是撞倒了冰山。The Titanic turned just in time, narrowly missing the immense wall of ice which rose over 100 feet out of the water beside her.

　　Titanic右下方的一个红色的小叉表明从船下传来了一些声音，对应课文Suddenly, there was a slight trembling sound from below, and the captain went down to see what had happened. The noise had been so faint that no one thought that the ship had been damaged.

　　图片上的5/16说明16个密封舱有5个已经进水了，Titanic也开始迅速下沉。Below, the captain realized to his horror that the Titanic was sinking rapidly, for five of her 16 watertight compartments had already been flooded!

　　最后一幅图，除了下沉的Titanic，还有一些小的救生艇。The order to abandon ship was given and hundreds of people plunged into the icy water. As there were not enough life boats for everybody, 1,500 lives were lost.
